Steps
Translated from the Korean original. Amounts are as in the original recipe.
- Separate the mackerel flesh from the bones.
- Remove the blood and moisture from the mackerel flesh with paper towels, then sprinkle with pepper and lemon juice to remove any fishy smell.
- Mix the tempura mix, egg, water, and cooking oil in a bowl to make the batter.
- Coat the mackerel in the batter and fry twice in 170°C oil.
- Chop the boiled egg, red chili pepper, Cheongyang chili pepper, and onion, mix in a bowl, then mix in the mayonnaise and lemon juice to make the sauce.
- Plate the fried mackerel with the tartar sauce.
💡 TipUsing red and Cheongyang chili peppers instead of pickles in the tartar sauce adds spiciness and reduces sodium.
