Steps

Translated from the Korean original. Amounts are as in the original recipe.

  1. Cut the kabocha squash with a knife and remove the seeds with a spoon.
  2. Lay a cloth in a steamer and steam the prepared kabocha in a steamer with rising steam for about 15 minutes.
  3. Season the ground beef with the green onion, garlic, onion, sesame oil, soy sauce, pepper, and plum syrup.
  4. Mix the glutinous rice flour evenly into the seasoned beef from (3).
  5. Put the seasoned beef into the steamed squash and shape it.
  6. When the broth comes to a boil, add the kabocha tteokgalbi (5) and gently steam for about 20 minutes, then top with pine nuts to finish.
💡 TipSteaming the tteokgalbi reduces nutrient loss, and steaming in broth lowers the sodium.
