↔ No kimchi? Store-bought kimchi works well. For cooking, older and more sour kimchi tastes better. Sauerkraut with a little gochugaru is a last resort.

Steps

Translated from the Korean original. Amounts are as in the original recipe.

  1. Cut the sweet potato into 1cm dice.
  2. Slice the kimchi after washing it in water, stir-fry in a pan with sesame oil, add garlic and salt and stir-fry, then finish with ground sesame seeds.
  3. Put the soaked rice, sweet potato, and stir-fried kimchi in a pot and cook into fluffy rice.
  4. Cut off the stem end of the apple, hollow out the core, and fill it with the rice.
  5. Put the rice-filled apples in an oven preheated to 160C and bake until the apples are cooked.
  6. Mix the seasoning sauce ingredients and serve alongside the rice.
💡 TipWhen cooking rice with vegetables, measure the water accurately so that the moisture from the ingredients does not make it soggy, and it is best to use equal amounts of rice and water.
