Steps
Translated from the Korean original. Amounts are as in the original recipe.
- Wash the whole bellflower roots and peel them.
- Soak the bellflower roots in salted water to draw out the bitterness, then remove the moisture.
- Split the roots in half and pound them with a rolling pin until thin and flat.
- Make a seasoning paste with grated pear, minced garlic, gochujang, soy sauce, and sesame oil.
- Grill the bellflower roots in a pan until cooked, then brush with the seasoning paste and grill again over low heat.
- Sprinkle with shallots and sesame seeds to finish.
💡 TipAdding grated pear reduces the saltiness of the gochujang seasoning.
